Office of the Deputy Prime Minister

Question
To ask the Deputy Prime Minister, whether, in the course of preparing policy on home information packs, his officials have visited the USA to inquire into the practice of soil testing for oil pollution as part of real estate transactions; and whether they have corresponded on this subject with officials in the USA.
Answer

Mr. Djanogly: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister whether, in the course of preparing policy on home information packs, his officials have visited the USA to inquire into the practice of soil testing for oil pollution as part of real estate transactions; and whether they have corresponded on this subject with officials in the USA. [209639] Keith Hill: No such visit or correspondence have taken place. Consideration is being given to appropriate means of including in home information packs information about contamination, including oil pollution. This would help ensure that home buyers and sellers are aware of any contamination problems affecting the property.
