Proceeding contribution from Lord Maginnis of Drumglass (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Monday, 4 July 2005. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2005.
Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2005
I apologise because I have come ill prepared, but I notice that in Article 23 (p) (5) it is now an arrestable offence to indulge in sexual activity in a public lavatory. Is that a reversal of the legislation that went through Parliament some time ago which decriminalised homosexual activity in public toilets, something that caused huge offence in Northern Ireland and probably wider than that? Is this a return to the situation that previously obtained? If so, it will be welcome.
