Proceeding contribution from Lord Tyler (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 9 November 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Commons Bill [HL].

Commons Bill [HL]

I warmly welcome government Amendment No. 171. I contemplated tabling a similar amendment and I notice that my noble friend Lord Greaves has also endorsed it. It refers to issues relating to archaeological remains and features of historic interest. I know that there is widespread concern that the original Bill, as published, did not include this provision, and it is obviously very welcome. While on the subject of features of historic interest, I must apologise to the Committee for leaving briefly to witness a feature of historic interest when the Government were massively defeated at the other end of the building.
