Proceeding contribution from Baroness Farrington of Ribbleton (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 9 November 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Commons Bill [HL].
Commons Bill [HL]
My understanding is that the ““public interest”” is the general areas of recreation rather than ““the public””, a defined group of people. If I am wrong about that, I will write to the noble Baroness. The association must have regard to that factor, but we are not seeking to make it an overriding one. The association has a duty to consider it.
