Proceeding contribution from Lord Roberts of Llandudno (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 9 November 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill on Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [HL].
Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [HL]
My Lords, if there were a large number of people present here tonight, I would take this to the vote. It is an important section of the Bill. It is our contention that in no situation shall a person be beyond the reach of the commissioner. This is putting a private dwelling place, or even a nursing home—where who knows what happens—beyond the reach of the commissioner. Tonight, however, hoping that we will return to it again, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
