Proceeding contribution from Duke of Montrose (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 1 November 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Commons Bill [HL].

Commons Bill [HL]

Perhaps I may ask the Minister for a little clarification. When a town or village green is dedicated and the land is registered, presumably the ownership remains with the person who hands it over. Some of these places might well be a market cross that, at the same time, is the caput of the manor, and I wonder whether the measure would have any effect in that regard.
