Proceeding contribution from Lord Bach (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 1 November 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Commons Bill [HL].

Commons Bill [HL]

I am grateful to the noble Duke. In the spirit in which I hope we are all conducting the Committee, we are happy to consider an amendment along the lines he has suggested. The purpose of the provisions is to ensure that any registered rights which are in place on the release land when the order is made are moved to the replacement land. I hope that he will allow me to consider further whether the clause as drafted achieves this or whether an amendment along the lines suggested is required. We will do that and let him know our view in good time before Report. I invite him to withdraw his amendment.
