Proceeding contribution from Baroness Thornton (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 17 October 2005. It occurred during Committee proceeding and Debate on bill on Children and Adoption Bill [HL].
Children and Adoption Bill [HL]
I thank the Minister for that answer. There is a small amount of satisfaction involved here, but I have heard before the words—that in practice the courts will take other children into consideration—and my heart rather sinks when I hear them, because we know that they mean that there will be a patchy response by the courts. Some will take them into account and some will not; so we know that, unless the provision is in the Bill, it may or may not happen. However, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendments Nos. 88 to 88B not moved.]
