Proceeding contribution from Baroness Scotland of Asthal (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 14 December 2005. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.
Identity Cards Bill
I believe that that is the case, but I assure the noble Lord that, as it is our intent that private prosecutions should not flow from the provision, we will look at it with parliamentary counsel to ensure that the provisions comply when read together. I did not respond to Amendment No. 211A. The noble Lord said that he would not speak to it because it was a technical drafting amendment, so I was not sure whether he wanted me to respond so that I could assure him that all was well, or whether he was simply accepting that anyway and did not intend to press the amendment.
