Proceeding contribution from Lord Clinton-Davis (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 6 February 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Company Law Reform Bill [HL].

Company Law Reform Bill [HL]

I urge the Government to take account of what the TUC has said. I think my noble and learned friend will agree that what the TUC has argued is precisely what he is urging. It is very practicable that that should be the case. As far as I can see, there is nothing in this clause to enable the Government to ignore the wishes of the labour force. The Government are complying entirely with what the TUC is arguing for. To remove, as my noble friend has argued, the relevant wording would be fatal to the whole purpose of the clause.
