Proceeding contribution from Lord Lea of Crondall (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 1 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Company Law Reform Bill [HL].
Company Law Reform Bill [HL]
I add just one more word. It is not my contention that Clause 156 goes a great distance towards the Dutch, German or Swedish models of company law, much as I would like that to happen. I am simply saying that Clause 156 is a centrepiece of a major reforming Bill. Some of us have read very carefully the speeches of my noble friend and others and have repeated them to other audiences. One needs to use the word ““codification”” but to say that this is simply a no change Bill is to make a caricature of the position which the noble Lord, Lord Sharman, would like to attribute to the Minister. I am confident that the Minister will not wish to identify with such an interpretation.
