Proceeding contribution from Lord Hodgson of Astley Abbotts (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 30 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Company Law Reform Bill [HL].

Company Law Reform Bill [HL]

moved Amendment No. A204AB:"Page 462, line 7, leave out ““not traded”” and insert ““unquoted””" The noble Lord said: In moving Amendment No. A204AB, I shall speak also Amendment No. A205A concerning Schedules 6 and 7. These schedules use the terms ““traded”” as defined in Clause 754 and ““non-traded”” in relation to company communications; whereas Parts 13, 15 and 16 of the Bill use ““quoted”” and ““non-quoted”” as defined in Clause 358. There is a subtle distinction between a company which is traded and one which is quoted, and we question whether there is a policy or regulatory reason for the distinction. If there is not, to avoid confusion we believe that these terms should be conformed to minimise potential difficulties going forward. That is the purpose of these amendments. I beg to move. 3 pm
