Proceeding contribution from Lord Warner (Labour) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 20 April 2006. It occurred during Committee proceeding and Debate on bill on Health Bill.
Health Bill
Sticking to the principle that I enunciated at the beginning of the Committee proceedings, we will deal with the hotel issue at a later stage with an amendment. I am happy to speak to the Committee on that point when we reach that stage in the Bill. As to the noble Lord’s point about separation, he has to grasp the fact that separation and ventilation have failed for practical reasons; people have not been able to find an effective way of separating and ventilating. If they could do that, it might change the equation. But people have not been able to come forward with practical ways of doing so and, as I understand it, that failure was one of the conclusive arguments for why the Irish Government moved along the path that they did.
