Honours System (Reform)
I am surprised that the hon. Gentleman was able to go back only 100 years. Is he aware that the abolition of the Irish Parliament in 1801 was lubricated by a substantial number of United Kingdom peerages, which entitled Irish peers and some Members of the Dublin Parliament to sit in the House of Lords in the imperial Parliament?
