Honours System (Reform)
Does my hon. Friend agree that we owe some people a posthumous debt of honour for services of distinction to the nation? In our review of the honours system, we have an opportunity to ascertain whether a case can be made for someone of the ilk of R. J. Mitchell, who made such a contribution to the nation. We have an opportunity to take on board his son's concern that the nation still needs to award him an adequate honour for his innovation in engineering design and his invention of the Spitfire.
