Honours System (Reform)
: Suppose that a police sergeant were to be made a knight. Given that there are 43 police forces in England and Wales—I do not know how many there are in Scotland—[Interruption.] Eight in Scotland, I am reliably informed. There is one knight in all 43 forces, plus the eight in Scotland. Does my hon. Friend think that it might devalue a knighthood if so many were given out in one tranche every year?
