Proceeding contribution from Lord Kilclooney (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 2 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Northern Ireland Bill.
Northern Ireland Bill
My Lords, before the Minister sits down, I am still slightly confused about how d’Hondt will operate. Will it be on the basis of the election result, or of membership of the Assembly when it meets on 15 May? As the Minister may well know, the DUP now has one fewer member than it had at that election. Secondly, since the impression has been given that there are no longer any punishment shootings, will the Minister confirm to the House that they still continue, including in one of the most strongly republican areas of Armagh city, where last night one man was hauled away by six men and shot?
