Proceeding contribution from Brooks Newmark (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Friday, 12 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Bill.

Climate Change and SustainableEnergy Bill

Does my hon. Friend not agree that many microgeneration projects are becoming almost economically viable? However, the cost of planning permission is prohibitive. For example, planning permission for a wind turbine on a house costs £265. If we want to encourage microgeneration projects such as wind turbines on people’s houses, surely we should encourage local councils not to have such prohibitively expensive charges for planning permission.
