Proceeding contribution from Lord Benyon (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 22 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Armed Forces Bill.

Armed Forces Bill

In his former position, the hon. Gentleman tried to move towards the view advanced by my hon. Friend the Member for Aldershot, but it is not good enough to put the point in written guidance, because it needs to be on the face of the Bill to provide the necessary security. The amendment tabled by my hon. Friend the Member for Aldershot sought to incorporate into the Bill the need for the commanding officer to be part of the process.
