Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill

I can assure the noble Lord that I never thought that the amendment had the Government’s approval. I am saying that this is the appropriate form of words to use if one wants to be absolutely sure that this Bill can be used to amend a provision which was originally introduced in purported compliance with an EU obligation, but was later thought to go too far. We must make sure that the Act can be used for that purpose. I therefore commend the new clause to the Committee, and I wish to take the opinion of the Committee. On Question, Whether the said amendment (No. 30) shall be agreed to? Their Lordships divided: Contents, 107; Not-Contents, 192.
