Proceeding contribution from Lord Hunt of Wirral (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 22 January 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Legal Services Bill [HL].
Legal Services Bill [HL]
I thank the Minister and ask her to reflect, between now and Report, on whether we should put some more restrictive words in here. The Bill states that, "““The Board may do anything””," without real limit, except so far as, "““the carrying out of any of its functions””," is concerned. Although the noble Lord, Lord Neill of Bladen, is quite right—I, too, recognise these words—I am not sure that they are particularly appropriate in the context of this legislation. I hope that the Minister might have another look at the wording.
