Proceeding contribution from Lord Maginnis of Drumglass (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 21 February 2007. It occurred during Debates on delegated legislation on European Communities (Employment in the Civil Service) Order 2007.
European Communities (Employment in the Civil Service) Order 2007
My Lords, I am absolutely confident that my noble friend Lord Trimble would forgive the Minister, as I would, for his common-sense answer in the first instance and regret that he had to apply the rules on his follow-up. But that is not the point that I wanted to make. The Minister uses the term ““the Permanent Secretary””. In Northern Ireland, we have the head of the Civil Service and a number of Permanent Secretaries. Would the Minister tell us exactly what he was saying a moment ago in that regard, for the sake of clarity?
