Proceeding contribution from Lord Howard of Rising (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 24 April 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Statistics and Registration Service Bill.
Statistics and Registration Service Bill
We are talking about taxpayers’ money. Non-executives are not employees. Therefore, if they are not able to serve as non-executives for whatever reason, there is no reason to give them compensation. I urge the Minister to look at withdrawing the provision, but I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendment No. 25 not moved.]
