Proceeding contribution from Stephen Hesford (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 30 April 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on Finance Bill.

They must have been the very briefest of references, because I missed every one of them. This is an apparent row, rather than a real one, and we are having it for a time-honoured reason in Finance Bill debates: Conservative Members do not like the anti-avoidance schemes. The Government are putting forward legislation to protect the Revenue. That is what my hon. Friends on the Front Bench are doing tonight and I support clause 25.
