Proceeding contribution from Baroness Noakes (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 2 May 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Statistics and Registration Service Bill.
Statistics and Registration Service Bill
Before my noble friend decides what to do with his Motion, will the Minister explain a little more about Clause 24(2)? It states: "““Anything required to be published by the Board may be published by it in such manner as it thinks fit””." Are there any restrictions on the board’s power under subsection (2)? For example, would it have to provide items in other languages—say, in Welsh? Could it get away with publishing everything on the internet? Are there any restrictions on this extremely wide power? I am puzzled by the breadth of the power.
