Proceeding contribution from Baroness Noakes (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 2 May 2007. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Statistics and Registration Service Bill.
Statistics and Registration Service Bill
I am concerned about many points in this Bill and I shall seek assurances on many aspects. I am grateful for the Minister's comprehensive reply, which I shall consider carefully alongside his last comment. I am mystified why some Ministers, including Treasury Ministers, stand at the Dispatch Box saying, ““We have to legislate for this””, and on other occasions they say, ““Of course, we have to let the board do it””. The Minister might accept that that is inconsistent government. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
