Proceeding contribution from Duke of Montrose (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 23 October 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill on UK Borders Bill.

UK Borders Bill

My Lords, perhaps I may follow up what the noble Lord has been saying and try to get some clarification. Clause 2(6) states: "““Detention under this section shall be treated as detention under the Immigration Act 1971””." Presumably that is a matter not of criminal justice but of immigration law.
