Proceeding contribution from Angela Eagle (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 17 December 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill on National Insurance Contributions Bill.

National Insurance Contributions Bill

I am listening to the hon. Lady citing august bodies. Will she also recognise the comment of the Pensions Policy Institute, an industry-funded research body, which described the proposal she is currently talking about as"““a technical change introduced to restore the flat-rating of””" the state second pension"““back towards the path originally envisaged in the Pensions Act 2007””?" In other words, it restores the cross-party consensus to put into effect the pension reforms.
