Proceeding contribution from Ed Balls (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 14 January 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Education and Skills Bill.

Education and Skills Bill

My hon. Friend makes an important point. We can deliver the commitments in the Bill only if we make accompanying reforms to make sure that by the time children are16 they have the skills and qualifications that they need to continue. Those reforms include many of the important reforms in our children's plan as well as our reforms to BSF to make sure that we can continue to invest in the best school buildings. Those plans would be cut by more than £4 billion if Opposition Members had their way.
