Proceeding contribution from Nick Gibb (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 14 January 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Education and Skills Bill.

Education and Skills Bill

The hon. Gentleman is making an interesting speech and I agree with most of it. How would he address the problem that many people in the educational establishment are very resistant to the return of synthetic phonics in the teaching of reading in our primary schools? How would he advise a Government to resist that backlash against the synthetics phonics movement?
