I share the concern expressed by the right hon. Member for Cynon Valley (Ann Clwyd). When it was announced that the Olympics were coming, I welcomed the announcement, but I asked the then Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport whether she would consider holding the canoeing championships in the world-class facility in Bala and the yachting in Pwllheli, which had been very successful for the Commonwealth games. She laughed and said, ““We'll see what we can do.”” Nothing has come to Wales.
