Proceeding contribution from Lynne Jones (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 31 March 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Housing and Regeneration Bill.

Housing and Regeneration Bill

My hon. Friend makes an important point about the amount of money that has been stolen out of council housing. Is it not about time that we scotched the myth that council tenants are subsidised and feather-bedded? Far from it, resources have been taken out of council housing, which should have been invested for the benefit of council tenants and also for the thousands of people on the waiting list.
