Housing and Regeneration Bill
I thank my hon. Friend personally for the extremely careful attention that he gave to those issues and for agreeing to bring forward amendments dealing both with the definition of the Secretary of State's power to direct and with the role and intervention powers of the regulator. All have helped to ensure that the objective—a proportionate but hands-off style of regulation—can be carried forward. If that is achieved, we will definitely have made an improvement to the Bill.
