Proceeding contribution from Mike Gapes (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 3 April 2008. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Global Security (Russia).

Global Security (Russia)

My hon. Friend is absolutely right. Our Committee called on the British Government to keep to their list of things that have to be done. At the top of that list is the question of Russia's ratification of the energy charter treaty, and the fact that the Government should make it clear that this is a relationship of interdependence, and not of dependence. The Russians needs Europe, and the European Union should, in our words, develop a ““robust and united”” approach to Moscow.
