Proceeding contribution from Baroness Cumberlege (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 12 May 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Health and Social Care Bill.
Health and Social Care Bill
I am not opposed to subsection (5). We are saying that the Secretary of State may direct the commission to devise the indicators; that is fine. We do not like, as per our amendments, "““the Secretary of State may devise””," which we would delete. We do not want him to devise, but we are happy that he may request that the commission do so.
