Health and Social Care Bill
The Minister made a statement on which I would appreciate some background. It was that the use, until recently, of the criminal standard has protected doctors, not patients. Where is the evidence for that? The GMC has been working for a long time to try to protect patients. That is in its mission statement and its long name. It is the General Medical Council, but its role is to protect patients; it is not there to protect doctors.
