Proceeding contribution from Graham Stuart (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 17 June 2008. It occurred during Opposition day on Polyclinics.
Polyclinics
If patients can register with an expensively laid-out new centre, they will take their money away from the GP's surgery—perhaps in the countryside, in an area like the East Riding of Yorkshire—with which they are currently registered. That would undermine the funding of the surgery, and lead to the closure of GP services in areas such as Leven and Beeford in my constituency.
