Proceeding contribution from Lord Dixon-Smith (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 18 June 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Housing and Regeneration Bill.

Housing and Regeneration Bill

I sometimes wonder what it will take to get the Government to admit that perhaps they were wrong. I think that it will happen only when they hit the ground at the bottom of the cliff on a date in the future that we cannot predict. I am not particularly surprised at the noble Baroness’s response. I am marginally pleased that she is concerned about the Carsberg report, given the cautious nature in which reports of that kind are couched. I regard the wording as considerably, if not completely, damning. Therefore, I think that there is an issue here that we will need to pursue further but, for now, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Clauses 278 and 279 agreed to. Clause 280 [Authorised assessors]:
