Proceeding contribution from Philip Hollobone (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 7 July 2008. It occurred during Estimates day on Public Transport.
Public Transport
Is it not the case that those train operating companies and bus operators that allow off-duty police constables on their services for free should be applauded for doing so? When fare evaders are caught, they can often cut up rough, and it is reassuring for passengers and revenue protection officers if off-duty police constables are encouraged to use public transport where appropriate.
