Proceeding contribution from David Drew (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 6 November 2008. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Rented Housing.

Rented Housing

The hon. Gentleman will not be surprised to hear me say that there is a marked disparity between the urban and rural parts of our society now, quite simply because we have driven people out of rural areas. As we have sold the council houses, we have not replaced them with social houses through housing associations. It is a great tragedy now; those rural areas are so much the worse because of the lack of variety of housing there.
