Proceeding contribution from Lord Oakeshott of Seagrove Bay (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Friday, 23 January 2009. It occurred during Debate on bill on House of Lords (Members' Taxation Status) Bill [HL].

House of Lords (Members’ Taxation Status) Bill [HL]

My Lords, I do not wish to fall out with the Minister on that because in general terms I agree about the major changes. But the point about the change in this Bill is that it is effective, important and urgent, whatever one's views about the wider issue of Lords reform. With that, I thank the many speakers who have been supportive and ask the House to give my Bill a Second Reading. Bill read a second time and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
