Proceeding contribution from Lord Darling of Roulanish (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 26 February 2009. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Banking (Asset Protection Scheme).
Banking (Asset Protection Scheme)
I said at the time of the pre-Budget report that we would set out our next set of forecasts at the time of the Budget. We will do that. The IMF figure I mentioned related to its forecasts for the world economy. Since October, when I published my forecasts—they were broadly in line with those prevailing at that time—there has, of course, been a very sharp downturn in economies here and across the world. The latest IMF world forecast reflects that.
