Proceeding contribution from Edward Leigh (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 12 March 2009. It occurred during Debate on Public Accounts.

Public Accounts

It is not just a choice between buying American and buying US. As we saw with the Chinooks, we can buy US, but what so often happens in the Ministry of Defence is that our own civil servants then gold-plate it. As a result, eight Chinooks have been sitting on the ground unused for eight years. We made the decision to buy American; let us buy off the shelf and get them flying.
