Proceeding contribution from Baroness Royall of Blaisdon (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 10 June 2009. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Constitutional Renewal.

Constitutional Renewal

My Lords, every Member of Parliament has been elected by a majority in his or her constituency. Therefore, I believe that those Members of Parliament are entirely legitimate. That is not to say that we should not be reflecting, looking at or debating different electoral systems, which is what the Prime Minister has undertaken to do. However, he has also said that there will be no change before the next election.
