Proceeding contribution from Lynne Jones (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 13 October 2009. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Biofuels.
Biofuels
Much of this debate has focused on the finite land resources of the planet, but I would like to raise one point that has not been madeāthe huge waste of land resources that results from the waste of food production because we throw so much food away. It is thought that almost 50 per cent. of our food is wasted. If we dealt with that, it would release more land resources for more productive and more climate change-friendly uses.
