Proceeding contribution from Paul Flynn (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 8 December 2009. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Afghanistan Strategy.

Afghanistan Strategy

I will give way in a moment, but I want to make some progress first. The other group on which we are building our hopes is the Afghan army. The idea is that the army will be expanded in huge numbers, which is a difficult thing to do. So, who are in the Afghan army? According to David Loyn, the BBC correspondent, 60 per cent. of them are heroin addicts and virtually all of them use cannabis.
