Proceeding contribution from Guy Opperman (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 30 June 2010. It occurred during Debate on Energy Efficiency.

Energy Efficiency

The hon. Gentleman seems to be indicating that without Government intervention there will be no further coal mining, but that cannot be right. For example, there are open-cast mines aplenty throughout Northumberland and my constituency, but all that mining is done without any Government support whatever.
