The Budget as it relates to Wales
The hon. Gentleman is absolutely right that the reduction in employers’ national insurance contributions will have benefits in both the public and the private sector. As I said in my statement, it will lead to savings of about £140 million for businesses in Wales alone. That is clearly a financial opportunity for the public sector, although in common with the whole country the public sector in Wales faces significant reductions in spending over the next few years.
