Of course the Lib Dems cannot enforce the whole manifesto or indeed have it accepted, but—for heaven’s sake—when they stand up to the electorate and say, ““There will be a Tory bombshell of a VAT rise,”” they spend hundreds of thousands of pounds doing it, and then turn around weeks later and say, ““We will vote for it””, it is not good politics, my friend.
