Proceeding contribution from Geraint Davies (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 30 June 2010. It occurred during Queen's speech debate on Legislative Programme and Budget Statement (Wales).
Legislative Programme and Budget Statement (Wales)
During the election campaign, the Conservative party suggested that there should be £8 in cuts for every £1 of tax raised, while the Liberal Democrats suggested that there should be £2.50 in cuts for every £1 of tax raised. Does the hon. Gentleman accept that there is not an equal coalition and that it is an overwhelmingly Conservative mandate? Does he also accept that one can balance economic growth, tax, and cuts as part of a portfolio to solve the deficit?
